David M. Lilienstein is the founder of our firm and a seasoned attorney with extensive experience representing policyholders in bad-faith insurance claims and ERISA actions. For more than two decades, Mr. Lilienstein has been a fierce advocate for individuals and businesses whose insurance claims have been wrongfully denied. Mr. Lilienstein is admitted to practice in all California state and federal courts and has a broad litigation background, including trial work, appellate advocacy, and class action litigation. Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Lilienstein has shared his knowledge and insights on insurance law with the public. He was a regular guest on KRON-TV’s afternoon news, where he discussed developments in insurance law and policyholder rights. He also appeared on KRON-TV’s morning financial news program, Rob Black and Your Money, offering expert analysis on insurance-related financial matters. 

 

In addition to his media appearances, Mr. Lilienstein has written extensively on topics related to insurance law, with a particular focus on disability insurance. His articles have served as valuable resources for both policyholders and legal professionals, reflecting his deep understanding of the nuances of insurance contracts and claim procedures. 

 

One of Mr. Lilienstein’s most notable accomplishments includes being part of the trial team in the landmark case of Hangarter v. Provident (UnumProvident, now known as Unum). This case remains a cornerstone in disability insurance law, highlighting the rights of policyholders and setting important legal precedents in the area of bad faith insurance practices.
