Understanding Attorney Payment Options 

There are usually two choices: pay your attorney by the hour or hire your attorney on a contingency basis.     

A contingency basis means, at least the way the DL law group operates, that unless we get you something (money), you don't owe us anything. We will work for free because we believe in your case and are willing to take it all the way to trial and a verdict, knowing we can win. Our track record of wins over the past two decades is almost unmatched in the industry. We will only take your case if we believe in it, know we can take it all the way, and can get you what matters most.

We can help you recover your money, especially if you've already paid out of pocket. If you pay out of pocket, we will work to get you some or all of that money back. If you paid tens of thousands of dollars or more to your insurance company for claims that the insurance company should have paid itself, hiring an attorney can help recover that money.   

Paying by the hour is usually not an option. It requires a down payment, known as a retainer, and the more work your attorney does, the more you pay.

The alternative is a contingency fee agreement. A contingency fee agreement means your lawyer gets paid only if you're successful in your case. The more your attorney makes for you, the more your attorney gets in attorney's fees. Your attorney is incentivized to obtain as much as possible for you as quickly as possible. And while every attorney-client agreement is negotiable, the DL Law Group follows general industry practices.

If we can negotiate a settlement before filing a lawsuit, this is often referred to as a pre-lawsuit negotiation. The attorneys will receive much less attorney's fees, sometimes as low as 20% and sometimes even lower. If your insurance company forces you to file a lawsuit, the industry standard is a 40% contingency, which means you will receive 60% of all the money we recover for you.   

When the DL Law Group represents you on a contingency basis, we will cover all upfront costs associated with your case. We will act as your bank, and you will only pay us when your case has been settled or tried to verdict. There is no risk to you. If no money is being paid, you will not owe the DL Law Group any money, and all the money the DL Law Group spent on your behalf will not be owed.
